Southcoast Health Earns U.S. News & World Report High Performing Recognition for 2024-2025

This year Southcoast Health was recognized as high performing by the U.S. News & World Report in five procedures and conditions including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), colon cancer surgery, heart attack, heart bypass surgery, and heart failure.

The U.S. News & World Report ranks nearly 5,000 hospitals each year, recognizing those with high performing ratings based on above-average patient outcomes, recovery, volumes, nurse staffing, and commitment to transparent medical data.

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Southcoast Health was recognized for advanced respiratory care, including the use of non-invasive breathing aids for COPD patients.

Heart Attack As one of 896 hospitals nationally and the only one in the South Coast region to receive a high performing rating for heart attack care, this rating includes recognition of Southcoast Health’s support for patients to achieve recovery at home and minimize avoidable time in the hospital, emergency department or a nursing home.

Heart Bypass Surgery – Receiving high performing recognition for heart bypass surgery showcases Southcoast Health’s excellence in this complex procedure and our patient-centered care.

As one of 240 high performing hospitals in this category, and the only one in the South Coast region, Southcoast Health surpassed average patient outcomes, with excellent ratings for minimizing the need to return to the hospital within 30 days.
