Southcoast Health’s Dr. Peter Cohn Accepts Physician in Chief of Cardiovascular Care Role
Southcoast Health announced today that Dr. Peter Cohn, Interim Physician in Chief of Cardiovascular Care has accepted the role of Physician in Chief of the Cardiovascular Center at Charlton Memorial Hospital.

Our dedicated team of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician’s assistants, nurses, technologists, staff as well as our leadership make this all possible,” said Dr. Cohn. “I look forward to working with this team to continue to deliver the best care possible while developing new and innovative programs to keep Southcoast on the cutting edge of cardiovascular care.”
Dr. Cohn joined Southcoast in 2011 as a trusted cardiologist in the community following 18 years as member of the Truesdale Cardiology group. He has served as the Associate Physician in Chief and Cardiology Department Chair and has led the Cardiovascular team as Interim Physician in Chief since June of 2018.
“We are pleased Dr. Cohn has agreed to transition to the role of Physician in Chief of Cardiovascular Care for Southcoast Health,” said Keith Hovan, President and Chief Executive Officer of Southcoast Health. “Dr. Cohn has the experience, the knowledge and the leadership skills to promote the continued success of our cardiovascular programs. He will work in partnership with our dedicated physician leaders to achieve continued clinical excellence and exceptional service for patients of our award winning Cardiovascular Center at Charlton Memorial Hospital.”
Dr. Cohn earned his medical degree from Rutgers Medical School. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I., and a fellowship in cardiology at the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.
Dr. Cohn is an invasive cardiologist who performs diagnostic cardiac catheterizations as well as pacemaker and defibrillator implants in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Labs at Southcoast Health.
He is board certified in cardiology and is certified by the Heart Rhythm Society for device implants.
