Southcoast Health Wound Care Center recognized with national award for Clinical Excellence
Southcoast Health receives national award for excellence in wound care services.
FALL RIVER, Mass. — Southcoast Health Wound Care Center, a part of Southcoast Health, was recently presented with the Robert A Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award by Healogics, Inc., the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound care services. The award is named for Dr. Robert A Warriner III, a pioneer in the wound care industry.
To be eligible for the honor, the Wound Care Center had to achieve outstanding clinical outcomes for a minimum of two consecutive years, including a patient satisfaction score higher than 92 percent, a wound healing rate of at least 91 percent in less than 30 median days to heal. There were 340 centers eligible for the Center of Excellence award, but only 268 achieved the honor.
The Southcoast Health Wound Care Center is a member of the Healogics network, which consists of nearly 700 centers nationwide, and provides access to benchmarking data and has proven experience treating approximately 2.5 million chronic wounds.
“This prestigious award is a significant accomplishment for the Wound Care Center because we were able to sustain efforts in wound healing outcomes for the past two years,” said Cheryl Thompson, RN, program director. “I am proud of the team’s commitment to providing excellent quality driven patient care. The staff is proud of this recognition as we strive to stay on the cutting edge of advanced wound care management and continue to positively impact the lives of our patients.”
The Southcoast Health Wound Care Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds which have not healed in a reasonable amount of time. Advanced treatments include hyperbaric oxygen therapy, negative pressure wound therapy, bio-engineered skin substitutes, total contact casting, and biological and biosynthetic dressings.
