Hearing Her Could Save a Life
Each year many women die in the United States from problems related to pregnancy or delivery complications. Per the CDC, more than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable with too many women experiencing severe, unexpected health issues directly tied to being pregnant. Here at Southcoast Health, we are dedicated to healthy pregnancies and deliveries for every person that comes through our doors.
The CDC’s Division of Reproductive Health has launched the HEAR Her campaign which seeks to encourage partners, family members, friends, coworkers, and providers to really listen when a pregnant person tells you that something they are feeling isn’t right. Acting quickly and accordingly can be the difference in saving a life.
The CDC’s HEAR Her campaign aims to accomplish a few different goals:
- Increase the awareness of the seriousness of pregnancy and delivery-related complications and the warning signs to look for.
- Empower those who are pregnant and postpartum to speak up and raise concerns when something doesn’t feel right.
- Encourage the support system of the pregnant individual to be more informed, aware, and to engage in important conversations.
- Provide tools and resources to pregnant and postpartum people, their support systems, and healthcare professionals so that proper, life-saving conversations can be had.
This campaign provides pertinent life-saving information and resources that can referenced and shared. Please click the below links for more information:
