Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Southcoast Health Announce Official Partnership

Southcoast Health and Massachusetts Maritime Academy are proud to announce their new formal partnership.

Through this agreement, Southcoast Health will serve as the official healthcare sponsor of Buccaneer Athletics and support all the Academy’s athletic teams while they compete at the collegiate level throughout the fall and spring seasons.

“I am proud to see these organizations come together to promote overall health and wellbeing in our community,” said Matthew Baltz, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon at Southcoast Health. “I have been working closely with Massachusetts Maritime Academy for the past 25 years and look forward to continue supporting the athletes, coaches, and athletic training staff competing in the sports they enjoy.”

Drawn together by their shared spirit of collaboration and commitment to the South Coast and Cape Cod regions, Southcoast Health looks forward to strengthening the relationship between the health system and educational institution in the years to come.

Earlier this fall, David O. McCready, President and CEO of Southcoast Health, and members of the Southcoast Health leadership team met with Admiral Francis X. McDonald, President of Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and academic leaders for a tour of the Buzzards Bay campus.

“We are delighted to partner with Massachusetts Maritime Academy and look forward to working together to identify how we can combine our efforts and make our community a better place to live and work. I am excited to see what we will accomplish in the future,” said McCready.

“Massachusetts Maritime Academy provides advanced undergraduate and graduate programs for students looking to pursue careers in Emergency Management, Facilities Engineering and Facilities Management in our region,” McCready continued. “These are critical areas where professionals are always needed within the healthcare industry to ensure our patients and community are cared for safely.”

“We appreciate the support of and commitment from Southcoast Health,” added Admiral McDonald. “Through this new partnership, we look forward to even more opportunities to collaborate as we train and support the next generation of leaders.”
