Local Artists Donate to the Nicole Podkowa Patient and Caregiver Fund
Jenny Newman-Arruda and Arianna Swink are the owners of TL6 The Gallery located in downtown New Bedford.
Known for showcasing local talent, they are dedicated to using their presence for good and recently teamed up with local artists to give back to the community.
The group decided to make stickers of the well-known Seagull Cinderella sculpture, created by Donna Dodson, to sell at their upcoming TL6 fundraiser, donating 100% of the proceeds to the Nicole Podkowa Patient and Caregiver Fund.
The Nicole Podkowa Patient and Caregiver Fund provides a much-needed resource for Southcoast Health cancer patients in need of financial assistance. Money from the fund goes directly to patients in treatment, helping cover the cost of necessities, such as transportation and groceries, while they are undergoing treatment.
“We’re all somehow connected to cancer,” says local artist, Jess Bregoli, reflecting on how the disease impacts so many lives. “It was important to us that the money raised would directly go to cancer patients.”
“We also wanted to keep it local. This wasn’t just about raising money; it was about the community.” added Jenny. “That was very important to us.”
Originally hosting their first fundraiser in 2016, the group decided to keep this tradition going selling the stickers at the gallery and online. Together they raised an amazing $1,200!
We are grateful to TL6 The Gallery and supportive local artists for their great contribution to the fund. The sticker fundraiser shows a collective effort of a community coming together.
