Going the Extra Mile – Southcoast Health Team Members Support our Patients at the 2025 New Bedford Half Marathon

The 2025 New Bedford Half Marathon was more than just a race – it was a testament to the dedication and generosity of Southcoast Health employees and community. This year, runners on Team Southcoast went the extra mile, fundraising to enhance patient care and services across the system.

At the race, 17 Southcoast Health team members laced up their sneakers and hit the ground running not only for personal achievement, but to support critical services at Southcoast Health Heart & Vascular, Southcoast Health Cancer and Southcoast Health at Home.

Through their combined efforts, along with the generosity of their supporters and additional donors, they raised just under $13,000.

Several dedicated runners raised funds to support Southcoast Health, including:

  • Amy Fowler ran in memory of Beth Ferr and raised more than $8,000 for the Southcoast Health at Home program.
  • Tarl Brogan, ran in honor of his father, Russ Brogan, and in loving memory of Armindo Camara. Collectively with Meg Rogers, these runnersraised more than $2,500 for Southcoast Health Cancer.
  • Danielle Medina and Emmanuel Resendes raised a combined total of $915 to support Southcoast Health Heart & Vascular.
  • Rosa Branco Pimentel and Dawn Teixeira Badger raised another $185 for Southcoast Health.

Beyond the race itself, the event was a success and more than 40 Southcoast Health volunteers helped things run smoothly throughout the day. These individuals worked behind the scenes facilitating race number pickup stations, handing out water, keeping the race course clean, and handing medals to the runners as they crossed the finish line. Many Southcoast Health emergency department team members were also helping at the event, ready to assist any runners needing medical attention.

Each donation, regardless of size, plays a critical role in improving patient care and ensuring that Southcoast Health can continue to provide exceptional medical services to the community.
