About Patricia DeGroot

Dr. Patricia DeGroot earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.

She has proudly served in the United States Air Force

She was inspired to become a physician having grown up in a large family and having a great interest in science, and feels that she was “born” to do her work. She believes that every patient has a story and that this is an integral part of why she loves her work. Taking care of next-generation patients whom she has delivered has been particularly heart-warming.
When not at work, she loves to sail and dance. To Dr. DeGroot, Southcoast Health means quality healthcare dedicated to its community.

  • Dr. DeGroot was AMAZING! She was thorough with her questions regarding any health concerns I had and addressed my concerns with care and compassion. This was a GREAT experience all around - I'd entrust Dr. DeGroot to take care of my own daughter.

  • I was attended in a timely fashion but the provider seemed rushed. She was nice and very knowledgeable but I wish she took more time to listening to my concerns and wish she would have reviewed my chart at least briefly prior to coming in the room.

  • No one in the office seems to communicate or know what's going on. My appt got messed up. Now I don't have the right labs ordered. This office has been a mess and so stressful to deal with at ever appt. It's made being pregnant miserable and the worst experience of my life.

  • I would like to enhance the excellent work that the nurses do in the Clinic. Excellent work. nothing to complain about.

  • Appointment felt rushed, didn't really have a chance to speak about things. I usually get asked if I have any questions or concerns and I did today but without being given the time and asked I didn't want to be a bother

Southcoast Health physician profiles now feature star ratings.  Below, you’ll find frequently asked questions about our process for calculating the ratings.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
