Omar Shweish, MD earned his Doctor of Medicine from Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul, Turkey. He then completed his residency at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts and his Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Shweish’s clinical interests include chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, interstitial lung disease and pulmonary hypertension. He was drawn to pulmonary medicine and critical care because of his deep fascination with the vital role the respiratory system plays in overall health.
In his role as a provider, Dr. Shweish is dedicated to understanding each patient’s challenges and prioritizing their needs, making sure they feel heard and supported. He values patient involvement in care plans and believes that their perspectives are essential in decision-making. Seeing his patients breathe easier and regain functionality brings him fulfillment, as it helps them return to the activities and moments that matter most.
When not at work, he enjoys mountaineering and wildlife photography, along with traveling and exploring world literature.
