About Nicole Mapes

Nicole Mapes earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Rivier College in Nashua, NH. Nicole then furthered her knowledge and expertise by earning a Master of Science degree, specializing in Midwifery, from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, KY. Nicole is a certified breastfeeding advisor member. Her clinical interests include Obstetrics, breastfeeding, contraception, teen health, and women’s health.

From a young age, Nicole knew that she wanted to make a difference in the lives of others. She quickly fell in love with women’s health, pregnancy, and holistic care. Nicole’s philosophy of care has always been to guide women through their various stages of life, so they feel more comfortable with the changes that inherently ensue. Pursuing a career in Midwifery has allowed Nicole to provide exceptional care to women and be there to assist them during their times of need.

When not at work caring for her patients, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family along with hiking and swimming. She also loves crafting – drawing, making decorations, and coloring.

    I was not instructed to premedicate or have a ride available for the day of my IUD insertion. My pre-procedure appointment scheduled for 6/12 was cancelled without my input - given my reaction to the procedure as well as lack of preparation information, I wish I'd had that pre-procedure appointment.

    Unfortunately I had to wait 45 minutes for my appointment which was very inconvenient as I myself work at Southcoast and had to get back to the office to see my own patients.

    Very long wait time. My appointment was at 9:30. I arrived at 9:15 to check in and was not called until 10:03. The provider did not begin my appointment until 10:30 (one hour after the scheduled time)

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
