About Michelle Wong

Michelle Wong, D.O. earned her medical degree at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Greensburg, PA. Having previously spent time in New England as a graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and Smith College, following medical school she came back to New England to complete residency in internal medicine at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA, where she also served as Chief Internal Medicine Resident. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology.

Dr. Wong has clinical interests in general gastroenterology. Her personal philosophy to practicing medicine is applying evidence-based medicine but with a personalized approach, and customizing society-recommended treatment plans that are unique to each patient’s circumstances and preferences.

In her free time, Dr. Wong enjoys wildlife animal rehabilitation, rowing/coxing, and karaoke.

It was a little strange that I need a follow up in 12 months, but the calendars weren't up yet. I'm able to book my physical, dermatology and cardiology appointments a year in advance so that my visits are on time. Hopefully, the calendars are set soon!

I have had an ongoing dialog with Dr. Wong for many months about my health issues and she has consistently moved me in a direction that improves my health. Every time I speak with her, I walk away with a better understanding of my issues because she takes the time to review my chart, knows what my current issues are, and brings practical recommendations for courses of action to improve my overall health. I feel like she takes a very holistic approach to my health, and doesn't just focus on one symptom, but prescribes a pragmatic course of action for dealing with that symptom in the overall context of all of my health issues. Many doctors like to treat a specific symptom as if it is a standalone problem, when in reality, there are many contributing factors that create the symptom.

I appreciate Dr Wong's expertise and knowledge. She was very clear and direct yet her delivery was abrupt and borderline rude. I had questioned protocol prior to the visit and I felt she came into the appointment annoyed by this. And my skepticism and disinterest in the 'weight loss clinic' seemed to annoy her.I do appreciate her candor and intention to express the seriousness of my condition yet little empathy was shown. I am considering requesting a new provider to continue my care.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
