About Matthew Costa
Dr. Matthew J. Costa, DO, FACC graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree from Villanova University in Villanova, PA. Dr. Costa earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. In his time at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Costa was a member of Psi Sigma Alpha, the National Osteopathic Scholastic Honor Society, Sigma Sigma Phi, and the National Honorary Osteopathic Fraternity. Dr. Costa furthered his medical expertise, first completing his Internal Medicine Residency and then becoming Chief Resident at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY. He then became Chief Fellow and completed his Cardiology Fellowship at North Shore University Hospital – Long Island Jewish Medical Center.
Dr. Costa’s clinical interests are in preventative cardiology, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, valvular heart disease, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. His personal philosophy of care is focused on forming a relationship with his patients that goes beyond medical management, and directly treats all aspects of the patient not just the isolated organ systems or symptoms. In addition, Dr. Costa strives to identify diseases risks and provide optimal risk reduction leading to the prevention of chronic illness.
Dr. Costa is dedicated to building long term personal relationships, treating patients as a whole person, and thinking diversly when it comes to diagnosing and managing cardiovascular disease.
When not at work, Dr. Costa enjoys spending time with his family, dog, and friends, as well as golfing, boating, fishing, listening to good music and playing the electric guitar.
