Beginning her medical career, Kara Frade earned her Associates Degree in Nursing from the Lawrence Memorial School of Nursing in Medford, MA. She continued her studies and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Chamberlain School of Nursing and her Master’s degree in Adult Gerontology Acute Nurse Practitioner from Walden University.
Having always had an interest in labor and delivery, she decided to return to school and become a Certified Nurse Midwife at Frontier University. Her clinical interests now focus on maternity services including vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC) and gestational diabetes.
Her career began right here at Southcoast Health while interning in high school. Prior to her current position as a Certified Nurse Midwife, she served our community as a CNA and a RN in the emergency department.
Kara believes in always making her patients feel comfortable. She understands that going to an OB/GYN can cause lots of anxiety for her patients and she wants to provide them with comfort and ease. She also believes in shared decision-making and prioritizes involving her patients in decisions regarding their care.
She shared that working in the community she grew up in, and now raises her own family in, is one of her biggest accomplishments. When not at work, she loves spending time with her children and is passionate about being a mom.
