About Joseph Lifrak

Dr. Lifrak graduated cum laude with departmental honors in biology from Tulane University in New Orleans. He then earned his medical degree at the Brown University School of Medicine in Providence.

Dr. Lifrak completed a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and a knee reconstruction/sports medicine fellowship at the Jewett Orthopedic Clinic in Winter Park, Fla.

He is a member and past president of the Rhode Island Orthopedic Society. His clinical interests are focused on sports medicine and knee reconstruction, including total knee replacements, ACL surgery and knee arthroscopy.

Dr. Lifrak is also active in the Providence College athletic programs, with specific responsibility as the team orthopedic physician for Providence Friars Ice Hockey team.

Joseph Lifrak, MD has been recognized as Surgeon of Excellence for Robotic Surgery.

As soon as you enter the office, you are greeted promptly and with a smile. The wait time to see Dr Lifrak is usually less than five or 10 minutes. Yeah, it was a pretty good experience. I didn't have to wait long, which was good. And the ladies that brought me in the room were good at asking questions and getting the pre-information. And then another lady came in, and she was nice. And then the doc came in, and he was very informative. He was cognizant of what was going on in my case, and he gave his opinion, his medical opinion, and what he thought was going on and what he thought might help and improve and ameliorate my situation. And that was it. And then I called him back the next day, and I asked him some more questions, and he called me back within an hour or two, which was very impressive. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
