About John Ponti
Dr. John Ponti specializes in non-operative treatment. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He then went on to further his medical expertise, graduating with his Doctor of Medicine degree from UMass Medical School in Worcester, MA. Dr. Ponti completed his residency at Brown Family Medicine in Pawtucket, RI before moving on to complete his fellowship at UMass Sports & Exercise Medicine in Worcester, MA. He is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine. During his fellowship training, Dr. Ponti was a team physician for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, as well as the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Holy Cross. Dr. Ponti specializes in Sports Medicine and is the Affiliate Instructor of Sports Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at UMass TH Chan Medical School.
Dr. Ponti’s philosophy of care is centered around believing that a physician should strive to educate, inform, and empower their patients to make the best clinical decisions. As he is trained in primary care, he also believes in treating the patient as a whole and taking into account all of their medical conditions and history when treating them.
He is an avid Boston sports fan and is especially passionate about baseball. In addition, Dr. Ponti volunteers at a summer camp for children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.
