About Edress Othman

Dr. Othman is a graduate of the University of Aleppo Faculty of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the SUNY Buffalo Graduate Medical-Dental Education Consortium Program, as well as a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Vermont. Previously he worked as a hospitalist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Carle Foundation Hospital of the University of Illinois.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Othman is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of Oncology, and the American College of Physicians.

In each of them in their very different roles provided me with exceptional conscientious compassionate care. Dr. Othman patiently and comprehensively reviewed all my relevant medical records and lab work with me. He then attentively listened to all my concerns and thoroughly answered all my questions before providing me with a coherent plan to move me forward with the medical condition I find myself in. The technicians at the infusion center are extremely caring and very personally involved in communicating what they are doing and their treatments and their timing and offering any assistance with any other issues that are complementary to the treatment for the oncological issues I have. I personally trust the doctors as well as all the nursing staff, the MPs, and even the clerical staff are very caring and very kind. Any questions I have are answered immediately regarding my health care issues and treatment.

My Dr took the time to explain every question I had and my navigator makes me feel like I'm treated as an individual. They both made me feel cared for and made me feel assured that any issue I had or should have is addressed in more than an excellent timely matter. I was treated as if I was family and felt uplifted and very happy after my visit . I received my medication promptly after I left the office. I am blessed to have the team of providers I do from this office. They go above and beyond to ensure I have the best care possible and I feel this whole heartedly. I'm thankful and I'm alive in both body and spirit because of them! Dr. Othman diagnosed my cancer and I'd never want to go anywhere else for treatment of my leukemia!

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
