Courtney Ferreira, DNP earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and her Doctor of Nursing Practice specializing in Adult Gerontology Primary Care at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She holds clinical interests in oncology and hematology.
Courtney’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in the oath of “first, do no harm.” She emphasizes the importance of truly listening to her patients and providing individualized care. She believes that kindness and empathy are essential in every aspect of patient care and approaches the practice of medicine with a focus on mind, body and spirit.
Growing up, Courtney always aspired to pursue a career in healthcare. When her grandmother was diagnosed with a neuromuscular disorder, her research into the condition sparked a deeper fascination and inspired her to support others facing similar challenges.
She first became a certified nursing assistant at the age of 16 when she enrolled in the health careers program at her vocational high school. She then began her nursing career in the intensive care unit (ICU) and COVID ICU as part of an emergency relief team in 2020. The experience left her unintimidated by complex medical issues.
When Courtney decided to venture out of the ICU, she took a role in an outpatient oncology clinic, and within a few short days knew she had found her niche. She enjoys the complexity, diversity and required critical thinking skills this care requires.
In her spare time, Courtney enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking dog walks, reading and cooking.
