About Chelsea Martin

Dr. Martin earned her bachelor’s degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. before completing her medical degree at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Mercy Health through Michigan State University in West Michigan.

Dr. Martin is a member of AOA, ACOG and ACOOG. Her professional interests include the management of high-risk pregnancies, adolescent gynecology, vulvar skin disorders and issues with sexuality. She also participates in medical mission work and has spent time in Haiti and West Africa.

In her spare time, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with her husband and dog — especially hiking, biking and travel. She also enjoys cooking, baking and is an avid reader.

I hadn't been to an OB/GYN in over ten years because of a bad experience. I had done my research choosing one who I would feel comfortable with. Although there were some with good ratings, I felt Chelsea Martin was best suited for me. I read her reviews which were remarkable!! I did scan the others, but I went with my gut feeling. I am so glad I did. She was exceptional. She was very professional, but yet down to earth at the same time. I knew I had made the right decision. She asked many questions so that she could have a better understanding of my medical history. Although I do have certain things done with SouthCoast Health, my primary care provider is with Steward Medical Group. but I'm hoping to get one with Southcoast Health, as I have been on the waiting list for almost one year. I just find SCH a better fit all around. There aren't enough words to express how thankful, grateful and satisfied I am with my choice in choosing Dr. Chelsea Martin. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful staff. The young lady who took my information at the reception window was so pleasant. She has a smile on her face the whole time. I wish I had her name, but she had medium length reddish hair. I also don't remember the name of the assistant who took weighed me, took my info and made me feel comfortable. She stated I was going to be in great hands! She was absolutely right. Thank you all around for providing a nice atmosphere and a very pleasant experience.

Hi there. Chelsea is just such an excellent provider. She always listens to me, pays attention to my needs, tries to help me find solutions to any medical issues that I'm having, even if they're not exactly, you know, the way that she would normally suggest. She works with me. She validates and values my own opinions. And overall, she's just a really good provider. She pays attention. She listens well. And I just really feel like she goes above and beyond to provide quality care to her patients. And I just can't say enough good things about her. So thank you guys. Have a great day.

This was the fastest appointment I've had at an OB/GYN. I arrived 10 minutes early and I was taking in immediately and seen within 5 minutes after going over my history with the medical assistant. Chelsea Martin was so pleasant and I'm very pleased with her promptness as well as her making me super comfortable. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a new gynecologist.

It was my first time seeing Dr. Martin, as my usual provider is an NP at another location and I needed a procedure done. I was taken in to the exam room by [Name] (MA or RN) who was very nice and personable. She had clearly reviewed my chart beforehand. Dr Martin was super nice, asked me questions about if I had had this procedure before (and I had) and explained the process anyways, to freshen my memory. She was as gentle as could be considering. I was only at this location for the procedure but would highly consider switching to her for routine gyn care. 10/10 experience!

The MAs and Nurses are always more than kind and caring. And dr. Martin is always knowledgeable and helpful. I'm getting surgery by a specialist and she told me she wants updates and she is there to help anyway she can. Which is always appreciated.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
