PediatricsAbout Blair Mailloux
Blair Mailloux received her Associate Degree in Nursing from The Community College of Rhode Island in Lincoln, Rhode Island before earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She then went on to further her education and obtained her Master of Science in Nursing from Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts.
She began working at Southcoast Health in 2014 in the heart surgery program at Charlton Memorial Hospital as a Certified Anesthesia Technologist. It was there that she learned about the value of unity within a team and the importance of empowering team members. That experience inspired her to embrace opportunities and further her education to become an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
Blair’s philosophy of care revolves around a holistic approach and family centered care. She believes in shared decision making between patient and provider. She has always been passionate about Pediatric Nursing and wants her role as a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to be an active one.
She feels that her personal background and childhood of having been vulnerable to unfavorable statistical outcomes, helps her identify with children and families at difficult times. Her experiences have helped her understand the importance of emotional intelligence as well as her having cultural humility when delivering healthcare to children and their families.
Blair advocates for her patients by not only providing healthcare, but also education throughout the developmental stages of life. Southcoast Health is known to provide “More than medicine” which to her means that her work is never about herself; but about teamwork, expertise and the outcome for the patient and their family.
When not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, outdoors riding her horse Colby, and riding mountain bikes. She also volunteers at a local non-profit organization that strives to help children and families struggling with poverty with a variety of medical and community programs to achieve community transformation.
