Celebrating Pride Month: Jeff Foye
Jeff Foye joined Southcoast Health’s Human Resources team as a Compensation Analyst in 2022.
He recently became a proud member of the More Pride LGBTQ+ Employee Resource Group (ERG), which was formed in May of last year. A community of Southcoast Health’s LGBTQ+ employees, family members, friends and allies, this ERG offers opportunities to connect, provide support to each other, and increase awareness of our LGBTQ+ community within our organization.
“Pride Month holds great significance for me as it provides an invaluable opportunity for the LGBTQ+ community to draw attention to the various challenges and issues that continue to impact our community,” Jeff shared. “It serves as a platform for raising awareness, advocating for equality, and celebrating diversity. Additionally, Pride Month is a moment to pay tribute to the brave individuals who took a stand for LGBTQ+ rights during the historic Stonewall uprising over 50 years ago, paving the way for progress and inspiring future generations. It is a time of solidarity, empowerment, and reflection on the journey we have undertaken towards acceptance and equality.”
Jeff and his partner celebrate and honor Pride Month every year by traveling to Provincetown. “This vibrant and inclusive community holds a special place in our hearts because it truly embodies the spirit of Pride,” Jeff says. Jeff reminisced about their first year attending, even amidst the challenges posed by the pandemic. “It was inspiring to witness how people found creative ways to showcase their pride while adhering to safety protocols. Even with masks and social distancing measures in place, the sense of unity, resilience, and determination was palpable,” Jeff adds. “It served as a reminder that our community’s strength and spirit cannot be diminished, and it reinforced the importance of celebrating Pride Month as a time of solidarity, love, and acceptance.”
Jeff also shared his thoughts on Southcoast’s Welcoming and Knowledgeable project, an initiative designed to identify and address healthcare disparities for LGBTQ+ patients and other marginalized populations. “It’s great to work for an organization that recognizes the importance of the inclusivity of all their patients. Not only does this project ensure the same rights for all patients but also has the opportunity to provide equal care to all,” he shared.
Additionally, Jeff expressed his gratitude that Southcoast is in the final stages of completing a transitioning guide. This comprehensive resource will assist Southcoast employees who are undergoing a gender transition, providing support and guidance during this significant life journey. Jeff drew from his past experience, acknowledging the positive impact of a similar resource at his previous employer, which fostered an inclusive work environment.
As Jeff embraces Pride Month, he continues to advocate for equality, celebrate diversity, and contribute to creating a more inclusive and accepting society both within and outside the workplace. His dedication and passion reflect the spirit of Pride and inspire others on their own journeys of self-discovery and acceptance.
