Southcoast Hospitals Group is named to Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals 2020
For the second straight year, Newsweek has named Charlton Memorial, St. Luke’s and Tobey to its list of the World's Best Hospitals.
“Your talent, effort, and dedication inspire trust from our patients and their loved ones in the care and service we provide. That confidence is especially crucial during times like these, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, when communities look to their local healthcare providers for strength and guidance,” Southcoast Health President and CEO Keith Hovan told employees and providers this week.
Newsweek ranks the world’s best 1,380 hospitals based on recommendations from medical experts, results from patient surveys and quality scores on key performance indicators from a variety of public sources. Visit the Newsweek site to learn more about the World’s Best Hospitals 2020.
“This is a tremendous distinction that our nurses, physicians, providers, and staff have earned together through steadfast commitment, every day, to bringing truly world-class healthcare to the South Coast region,” he said.
“I’m very proud of all the professionals – clinical, administrative, support services and others – who made this honor possible. Even more than that, I am gratefulto you. Amid all the challenges you have faced, you could have rested on our success of making the inaugural list of Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospitals in 2019, but you strove to continue working at their best. You did More.”
More than 2,500 hospitals across the country – and thousands more across 21 countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, and North America – were considered for Newsweek’s World’s Best Hospital list. Only 281 from the United States made it. We are one of just two non-academic hospital groups from Massachusetts in the rankings, while no hospitals located in Rhode Island were named to the list.
“Everything we do, we do for our patients,” Hovan said. “Our patients know that exceptional care from people who care is available right around the corner and recognized around the world.”
