NEW BEDFORD, Mass. – Southcoast Health is proud to announce that Susan Netinho, MSN, RN, recently received the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society’s Nurse Leader Award for the advancement of nursing education.
Netinho, a Clinical Expert Nurse at Southcoast Health, was nominated by the Theta Kappa Chapter, located at UMass Dartmouth, for her outstanding efforts with the coordination, placement and guidance of the hundreds of students that complete their clinical rotations each semester at Southcoast.
“Susan’s dedication to her students and faculty is simply remarkable,” said Cynthia Marlin, MS, MHA, RN, ONC, Interim Chief Nursing Officer at Southcoast Health. “She spends countless hours making sure every student is placed with just the right preceptor. It is through Susan’s commitment to excellence that we all can be assured that the educational experience of our future nursing force is first-rate from the very beginning.”
Netinho, an employee of Southcoast Health for almost 30 years, began her career at St. Luke’s Hospital on the Knowles Unit in 1987. She became the Nurse Educator for that unit in 2010, and was promoted to Clinical Expert Nurse for Inpatient Surgical Services this past December.
She received her BSN from Salve Regina University and her MSN from UMass Dartmouth.
