About Alicia Medeiros

Alicia Medeiros earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degrees from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She holds certificates in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Nonviolent Crisis Prevention and is a certified resiliency trainer through the United States Army. Alicia began her career in healthcare working as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford and Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.

Her clinical Interests include geriatrics, hospice, intensive care, cardiac, neurology, nephrology and urology. She has a fundamental knowledge of the Portuguese language.

Alicia enjoys reading, spending time with her pets, being active outdoors and especially enjoys swimming at the beach in the summertime.

Alicia’s philosophy: “I have always loved the Southcoast philosophy of “More Than Medicine.” As a practicing nurse for the last 8 years, I’ve known for a long time that sometimes a warm blanket, a cup of tea, and a hand to hold is worth more than any medication I can prescribe.”

The office design is not senior or handicapped friendly. Most of the patients are seniors and have mobility issues but the layout of the office/exam rooms presents challenges for patients with mobility issues. Please re-design the office to better accommodate the senior/disabled patients.

One of the best experiences at the doctors i've ever had! They called me in 1 minute after I had signed in, there was no waiting around which is awesome. Dr Alicia Medeiros was beyond great, she was very kind, caring and personable! I really felt like she was listening to what I was saying and she would answer all of my questions without me even having to ask them. I'm very thankful for [Name] the nurse, who explained the procedure because he just had it done and he understood my intrepidness. I was basically scared when my stent was going to be pulled out. I didn't know how much pain it was going to be. So he helped alleviate that worry. And also for [Name] from the nurse practitioner who was incredible, made me feel comfortable in the most embarrassing position. But she did a great job. She made me feel very comfortable and she took out my stent with very little, if any, pain. So I would go there again. Hopefully I don't need to go there again, but I would go there again if needed. Thank you.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
