About Sagar Patel

Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and earned his medical degree from the University of Debrecen Medical Health and Science Center in Debrecen, Hungary.

Dr. Patel previously served as a hospitalist at Southcoast. He completed his residencies in preliminary general surgery and in internal medicine at SUNY University of Buffalo, followed by his fellowship in nephrology at SUNY Stony Brook University Medical Center, both in New York.

Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association. He has ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.

His clinical interests are: slowing progress of chronic kidney disease, hypertension management, and kidney stones.

Dr. Patel enjoys spending time fishing and camping. He also enjoys playing the guitar.

I really like Dr. Patel. He's always, I don't know, he just has this really nice presence. He seems to genuinely care. I feel like I've been seeing him for a lot longer than I have been. I've only been seeing him for a few months, but I feel like I have a connection with him and he does that. He gives that feeling like he cares. I think he's been spot on with his care for me. He listens and he gives me all the time I need. He's one of my favorite doctors ever. I really like Dr. Patel and his support staff was all very good too. Okay, thank you.

Dr. Patel, as you know, I was there today. Always a wonderful visit, always caring, you know, talks to me about my medication, whether I should take more, whether I should take less. His support staff met me right at the George Lewis office as I went down the hall. They were right there to greet me. In my seven years of going to him, I have never, ever found anything other than courtesy and he knows every single thing about my condition and from my other doctors. So I'm extremely happy. The operators who ask questions want to hear to much info they need not know. Office Staff Yes they are helping patients. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
