MIDDLETOWN, R.I. — Southcoast Health announced today that Dr. Christopher Luttmann, cardiologist, has been recognized as a 2016 Top Doctor by Rhode Island Monthly.

“This is an impressive award. To me, it says a lot that colleagues identify Dr. Luttmann as a respected and trusted physician to whom they would refer friends and family. I think it speaks to the essence of what physicians treasure most — excellent clinical skill coupled with compassion and judgement. My sincere congratulations got out to Dr. Luttmann,” said Dr. Margaret Ferrell, Physician-in-Chief of Cardiovascular Services at Southcoast Health.

The annual list of Top Doctors is compiled from 2,000 write-in ballots sent to practicing physicians across Rhode Island. The magazine poses the question to those doctors: If you, a friend or a family member had a medical problem, who would you select as the best specialist in Rhode Island for care and treatment?

Dr. Luttmann is a graduate of Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, N.Y.  He completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Lankenau Hospital in Philadelphia, and a fellowship in cardiology through the Brown University Integrated Hospitals Program. He served as an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Brown University for more than 20 years.

It is particularly gratifying since I feel that my fellow physicians are most qualified to judge my ability to deliver quality care to patients,” said Dr. Luttmann.
