Celebrating Excellence: Southcoast Health Honors Individuals Across the Region with the Annual Volunteer of the Year Awards

Southcoast Health is pleased to recognize five volunteers for their exceptional dedication and service in 2024.

These individuals have gone above and beyond in their efforts to make a meaningful contribution to Southcoast Health patients and our community.

“We are incredibly proud to honor these wonderful individuals as our 2024 Volunteers of the Year,” said Donna Galotti-Kincman, Manager of Volunteer Services and Visitor Management at Southcoast Health. “Their hard work and selfless contributions represent the very best of our mission to deliver exceptional care and service here at Southcoast Health. We are deeply grateful for their unwavering commitment.”

2024 Southcoast Health Volunteers of the Year:

Stephen Borden – Charlton Memorial Hospital

Stephen first joined Southcoast Health as a volunteer in 2021. Since then, he has been dedicated to assisting our team in the delivery of exceptional service in patient care at the Southcoast Health Cancer Center at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River.

Theresa and Henry Sylvia – St. Luke’s Hospital

This dedicated mother-and-son duo exemplify the spirit of service. Theresa has provided five years of service volunteering at the Southcoast Health Cancer Center in Fairhaven. Since joining the volunteer program in 2002, Henry has contributed over 5,000 hours in the Graphic Arts Department at St. Luke’s Hospital, prior to joining his mother at the cancer center.

Rose Dupont – Tobey Hospital

Rose is a retired nurse with over 36 years of service at Southcoast Health. Now she continues to dedicate her time to patient care as a patient representative at Tobey Hospital in Wareham.

Helen Virga – Southcoast Health at Home

Helen joined the Southcoast Health volunteer team in 2020 and has since achieved over 1,000 hours of service. She provides companionship and social support to hospice patients, and offers their caregivers some rest, with Southcoast Health at Home.

Please join us in congratulating the award recipients and thanking the many volunteers who give their time assisting patients and their families at Southcoast Health. Volunteers perform many services such as running the hospital gift shops, participating in Southcoast Health’s baby cuddler program, playing piano in the hospital lobbies, and assisting with fundraising efforts.

“Our volunteers selflessly give their time, talents and compassion to brighten the lives of our patients and offer amazing support to our staff,” said Kimberley Coon, Executive Director of Hospital and Medical Staff Services, Chief of Staff to COO at Southcoast Health. “Their dedication makes a meaningful difference every day.”
