More than medicine: Catherine Green, PA, Southcoast Heath Urgent Care

Generations of Catherine Green’s family are woven into the fabric of the South Coast community.

In fact, she, her grandmother, mother, and now her son, were all born at the same Southcoast Health hospital.

Growing up in the region, Catherine knew early on that she wanted to pursue a career in medicine. As a student she began shadowing local providers to learn more about the different specialties. Now she lives in Bridgewater, MA and works as a Physician Assistant (PA) at Southcoast Health Urgent Care.

“After witnessing firsthand the compassion and dedication of a local Physician Assistant caring for patients in our community, I felt a profound certainty that this was the career path for me,” she says.

“I gravitated towards urgent care due to its dynamic nature, offering a diverse array of cases and procedures. This fast-paced environment provides a mix of challenges and opportunities, from addressing various complaints to performing procedures like suturing, ensuring every day keeps me engaged and alert.”

Since opening the first of six locations in 2013, Southcoast Health Urgent Care has made significant contributions to the health and wellbeing of our region by providing convenient, same-day care for patients with non-emergent injuries and illnesses.

This additional access helps alleviate the strain on emergency rooms, and now these locations can often help patients book appointments directly with the appropriate specialists if they require follow-up care before they leave. “With this exciting development, we’re taking a significant step forward in providing complete and streamlined healthcare services for our patients,” Catherine says. “Providing this great care gives me fulfillment as it allows me to serve the very community that has helped shape who I am.”
