Early Beginnings and a Rewarding Career Journey for a Southcoast Health Nurse Practitioner

For Taylor Bardsley (Robillard), working at Southcoast Health seemed predestined.

One could even say Taylor grew up here. Her mother, Donna, worked at Southcoast for many years before retiring as a Practice Specialist at the Southcoast Health (Borden) Internal Medicine location in Fall River earlier this year.

As a child, Taylor often visited the office with her artwork in hand, ready to put on display. She loved spending time there, dreaming of caring for her own patients one day. It was here that she also found inspiring role models, Jennifer Rapoza, MSN, ANP and Renee DaCosta, APRN, BC, who encouraged her to work in the medical field.

“I grew up knowing them, and always knew I wanted to follow in their footsteps,” Taylor said. “As soon as I was able to, I was eager to start working and really wanted to join Southcoast Health. I decided to take on a volunteer role for six months before a position opened up.”

Taylor officially joined the Southcoast Health team, in her mother’s office, as a medical office assistant while she attended Rhode Island College majoring in Psychology. Although, it was here that she realized her heart was in nursing.

After graduation, Taylor soon made the decision to attend the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing where she obtained her Diploma in Nursing. This achievement led her back to Southcoast Health to work at Charlton Memorial Hospital as a member of the Southcoast Health Rehabilitation Wound Care Team before joining Southcoast Health’s Family Medicine Practice in Swansea.

“One thing I have learned is that there is a lot of opportunity for growth in healthcare,” she said. “There are so many ways to take on new roles and connect with patients. I am also fortunate that throughout my career, I had the opportunity to work with so many supportive and caring teams here at Southcoast Health.”

Now, continuing her medical education, Taylor recently graduated from Simmons University in Boston, with a Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

With this new role, her story is coming full circle and she is back at the Southcoast Health (Borden) Internal Medicine location, caring for patients at the very place that cared for her.
