About Kenisha Starks

Kenisha earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. She then went on to obtain her Master of Science in Nursing with a Specialty Track in Family Nurse Practitioner from Chamberlain University in Chicago, Illinois. 

She treats each patient as though they were a member of her own family or close friend, and she is dedicated to upholding the following five principles: communication, privacy, independence, safety, and dignity. She also believes that each patient deserves the same amount of time, attention, and commitment, and that she should never forget that a patient is a person first and foremost.

She is in favor of using a holistic approach when practicing conventional medicine. She is aware that there are several aspects of a patient’s life outside medicine that affect their well-being, including social, cultural, psychological, ethical, and spiritual aspects.  

Her inspiration to work in the medical field comes from the want to help others. She chose internal medicine because it allows her to care for patients outside of the hospital setting while, simultaneously, aiding in the prevention of hospitalization. She enjoys the continuity of care and developing long-term relationships with patients and their families. 

Kenisha’s Passion Project came about by the establishing of a care team to volunteer in Jamaica for one week each year. Volunteers care for natives providing them with BP clinics, DM checks, women’s health visits, and wellness and sick visits. 

When not at work, Kenisha enjoys traveling and spending time decorating her home.

  • Medical assistant did not introduce herself, did not let me know what she was doing and why. The medical assistant asking medical questions and then questioning my answers. I also heard her discussing me clearly at the nursing desk.The NP provider more than made up for the unpleasant experience with medical assistant. The office staff for check in and check out were wonderful....

  • I was seen for ear care/wax removal. I was extremely anxious because I have total hearing loss in my opposite ear due to "sudden deafness." Kenisha was so patient, kind and slow in her care to put me at ease. She gained my confidence quickly and she cleared my ear completely in the one visit. I am so grateful to have received such professional and compassionate care from Kenisha; she is a strong asset to the practice and care team

I had some difficulty with CVS on a refill and I couldn't get it and it was their mistake and she followed up on it and then called me at home to explain and let me know that everything was all taken care of. To me she went above and beyond and I really appreciated it and that was my first visit and I liked her very much. Thank you.

  • I arrived and the receptionist took me into the office because the other two receptionists were busy with other people at their windows. Ms Starks NP, is a great listener and explains the situation to you, for you to understand. She was courteous and caring. It felt as if i was talking to a friend. The staff are an excellent group of people that I can't say enough about them all.

As a result, the patient is subjected to responding to the same questions they took the time to answer before the visit. It's frustrating to both provider and patient and results in wasted time during the visit.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
