My name is David McCready, and I am honored to officially begin my new role as President & CEO of Southcoast Health.  

Today also marks the beginning of Dr. Ray Kruger’s well-earned retirement. Over the past three months, I was fortunate to work alongside Dr. Kruger, a kind, innovative and insightful leader. Please join me in congratulating him on his many enduring achievements including his leadership of Southcoast Health, and the culture of community he helped enrich. 

Since arriving at Southcoast Health in October, I have had the pleasure of visiting many locations throughout the region and the privilege of meeting so many of you in the community as I learned about the incredible range of healthcare services Southcoast Health provides in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.   

Across the system, I’ve been impressed by the talent and dedication of our caregivers. It is clear to me that what makes Southcoast Health an exceptional organization is the unique combination of extraordinary clinical expertise with a deep commitment to truly caring for and about our patients and our communities.  

As a leader in healthcare for nearly three decades, I recognize that I’m assuming this new role at a time of unprecedented change and challenges in our industry. However, I am confident that we are well positioned to continue growing… delivering more health care services, more conveniently, to more patients. It will take work, but we are on the right track. I look forward to further discussing these growth opportunities for Southcoast Health in the months ahead.   

The foundation of our organization as a community health system is providing exceptional healthcare and service, while working to improve health, and health equity, across the communities we serve.  I promise to stay true to this and work with you to guide our community healthcare into the future.
