Cardiac SurgeryAbout Rebecca Pereira
Rebecca obtained her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from UMass Dartmouth. She also holds B.S. in Biology and Nursing.
She wanted to elevate her knowledge and ability to play an even greater role in patients’ health journeys and felt that a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree was the perfect combination of interests in clinical and research. Having worked in cardiac units for many years as a nurse, she realized that cardiac care was her passion.
Her belief is that the best tool a provider can utilize is to really listen to their patient and involve the patient as much as possible in the plan of care. She believes that an honest and nonjudgmental provider-patient partnership promotes well-being and good health outcomes. She always treats her patients as if they were her own family member and when there is something she does not know, she will work diligently to work to find an answer.
To her, Southcoast Health means home. Having grown up in the south coast she moved back to set down roots after having lived away for a while. She started working in the Southcoast Health system as an RN years ago and has never left. Having stayed through the pandemic and watching her colleagues and coworkers support each other is something that she can’t really put into words. Southcoast Health offers amazing services to its diverse community and it’s something she always wants to be a part of.
When not at work she enjoys spending time with her family, spinning, reading, playing the piano, camping, and going for long walks outdoors.
Watching her children learn, grow, and find their own paths in the world brings her joy.
