About Francesca Friel

Francesca Friel started her medical education earning an Associate of Science in Nursing at Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pennsylvania. She then furthered her medical expertise, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at St. John Fisher College in Rochester, New York. Francesca then completed her Master in Science, Family Nurse Practitioner, at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Francesca’s personal philosophy of care is seeing and treating patients beyond their “chief complaint”. It is important to her to understand what situational factors are contributing to their current state, both good and bad. She has always had a deep respect for her healthcare providers throughout her life and they inspired her to choose the same field of work.

When not at work, she spends her time cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

If possible one improvement that should be made is scheduling labs for annual physical ahead of time so when you go to your appointment the doctor have the results available to review with the patient instead of scheduling them after the appointment and have to go back for a review

I called for an appointment just to get looked at for a sinus infection around 2 in the afternoon and asked to be seen in the next couple of days, but was told that I could be seen at 2:15 which was great. I got to the office and didn't wait long to be seen, Francesca checked me out and was very friendly and nice, she sent a prescription in for me and I was out by 3, very impressed with getting me in so soon and out quickly.

The provider I saw, Francesca Friel, she isn't my normal primary care provider, but she is probably one of the best health care providers I've ever interacted with, and I'm 35 years old. She really took the time to listen to what was going on. I told her the struggle I was having with my referral, and she personally helped me call other providers so that I was able to be seen in a timely manner for a pressing health issue, and she just went above and beyond to listen to everything that was concerning me and talk through it and figure out what was the root of the issue. So she was absolutely amazing.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
