Southcoast Health Hosts 7th Annual Nicole Podkowa 5K Walk & Run at Fairhaven Cancer Center
On Sunday, October 6, 2024, Southcoast Health will be hosting the seventh annual Nicole Podkowa 5K Walk & Run at the Southcoast Health Cancer Center at 206 Mill Road in Fairhaven beginning at 9am.
Online registration is open for all ages now through October 3, 2024, with day of registration opening at 7:30 am on-site. Participants have the option to sign up individually or with a team and children 8 years old and under are invited to run for free.
All proceeds from the event go directly towards the Nicole Podkowa Patient and Caregiver Fund. This remarkable fund assists Southcoast Health cancer patients and their families who are in need of financial assistance. Funds help cover utility payments, food, housing, transportation, treatment related supplies and other necessities.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, donors and more than 700 participants, the event was able to raise a grand total of $75,000.
“This fundraiser is a powerful example of our community coming together to make a difference in the lives of our cancer patients. The fund helps ease the financial burden many cancer patients face. I’m proud that we’re able to do so in honor of Nicole,” said John Podkowa, DO. “It’s a testament to our slogan ‘No one does this alone’.”

Each registered participant will receive a long-sleeve Podkowa 5K race shirt as a thank you and those who would like to participate but are unable to attend in person may register to run or walk the 5K in their desired location.
