Consumer Health Outreach Program
The Grant Program was successfully completed at the end of April 2004. This webpage will remain available and we will try to update the links to the best of our ability as time permits. Any input or feedback are welcome.
St. Luke's Hospital Library Health Information Outreach to the Greater New Bedford Community is a project funded by a grant from the National Library of Medicine through the New England Region NN/LM and supported by Southcoast Hospital Group's in-kind resources.
Mission
The objective of our project is to provide the professionals from public libraries and small health care agencies in our community with timely, convenient access to consumer health information resources. By using a train the trainer approach, the program will result in improved access to health information in the community and, potentially, improved health of the public.
Goals:
- Positively impact the ability of public librarians and health care professionals to answer health questions of the Greater New Bedford Community.
- Build a good health information resource for public library professionals and health care professionals to use - the compilation of a consumer health web page.
- Foster the relationship of St. Luke's Hospital Health Sciences Library and area public libraries and encourage resource exchange and sharing.
Web Links
This page serves as a gateway to many of the web resources to be discussed and used during the course of our project. Links are divided along subject lines and do not constitute an exhaustive list of quality, health-related sites on the Internet.
